At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Materials and Produktion, Copenhagen Campus a position as Associate Professor in supply chain management and IT is open for appointment from 1 November 2017 or soon hereafter. Department of Mechanical, Production and Management Engineering has more than 130 researchers and a world class research environment. The research and teaching of the department is oriented towards production conditions in the private and public sector and contain elements such as production, materials science, operations research, IT, organization, product development, automation, mechanics and management. 

Job description

Research and teaching will be within the fields of supply chain management and IT. Application domain includes manufacturing and logistics. We are interested in technical profiles that can strengthen the Logistics and Supply Chain Management research group in the Sustainable Production section of the department in Copenhagen.

Candidates with expertise in big data analytics and optimization in one or more of the following contexts while working in close collaboration with industry are strongly encouraged to apply

  • Spare parts and service parts planning, servitization and logistics systems
  • Supply chain risk management, disruption management and resilience

Additional working knowledge of Operations Research including Deterministic and Stochastic Optimization, Game Theory, Financial Modeling of risks will also be useful.

Research will be conducted jointly with colleagues in Copenhagen and Aalborg. Research at the department is aimed at industry and is conducted locally, nationally and internationally in close collaboration with companies and external research partners. The successful candidates are expected to contribute actively to ongoing research and the development of new research projects. Candidates with proven track record in obtaining funding from national and international funding agencies, authoring high quality publications, demonstrating excellence in teaching, having industrial experience or having ability to work closely with companies for research projects will be given due preference.

The teaching activities include teaching courses and supervising student projects in the M.Sc.Eng. programme in Operations and Management Engineering and M.Sc.Eng. in Global Systems Design (Autonomous Systems), M.Sc in Operations and Innovation Management and B.Sc.Eng. programme in Manufacturing and Operations Engineering. Furthermore, there will be involvement in organising and teaching research and methodology seminars.

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
