International Postdoc Position in Ultrasound Image Analysis (P21734)

At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, a position as Postdoc in Ultrasound Image Analysis Governance is open for appointment from 1 October 2017 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 15 months.

Job description

The Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the area of health science and technology. The department has more than 250 employees and is responsible for more than 1700 students. More than 100 PhD¬students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. The department has laboratory facilities for Multichannel EEG and EMG analysis, NMR- and electrical stimulations, ECG-analysis, ultrasound, 3-d movement analysis, respiratory and circulatory examinations, sensory and motor functions analysis, clean room facilities, cell growth, molecular biology etc. for more see: www.hst.aau.dk 

In 2000 AAU established a new five year master program within biomedical engineering, in 2006 within medicine with industrial specialization, in 2007 within Sports Science and latest in 2010 within medicine. All educations at AAU are based on problem based teaching.

The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in ground-breaking research to elucidate the electromechanical interactions of the heart. This is a collaborative project between the von Ramm Laboratory at Duke (US) and the Cardiotechnology Laboratory at Aalborg University. The fellow is expected to visit Duke University in North Carolina (US) for at least six months.

 

Job description:

The fellow will be involved in developing analysis software to derive quantitative parameters from high speed (500-2000 images/sec) cardiac ultrasound 2D images such as strain and strain rates. Once such analysis has been successfully applied to clinical cardiac images of both healthy persons and patients with conduction abnormalities, software will be transitioned to 3D multi-plane analysis.


Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements: 
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
