At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management, a position as assistant professor in entrepreneurship is open for appointment from 1 August 2018 or soon thereafter for maximum 4 years.

Job description

We are looking for a candidate with good teaching and supervision skills relating to entrepreneurship in practice as this position will be anchored in the Business Design Center that runs the university-wide study programs New Venture Creation and Corporate Entrepreneurship. Teaching experience in business models or creativity is also a plus. 

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to design and conduct high quality research relating to entrepreneurship in practice. Relevant themes could include team formation in new ventures, business model formation in new ventures, creativity processes and opportunity spotting, but not limited to these examples. 

The Business Design Center conducts research in creativity, business models and building new ventures. It is also the home of the Journal of Business Models and the Business Model Conference. As an employee at the Business Design Center you are expected to contribute to a team-based culture, contribute to ongoing activities and to align your research profile to match the ongoing projects as best possible.  

The Department of Business and Management at Aalborg University (AAU) conducts research within the broad fields of business administration and economics. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is in the core of the educational activities at the department and facilitates the combination of theory and practice - often in cooperation with private companies and public institutions. 

The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opportunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.

Qualification requirements

Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
