At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, The Department of Planning at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen Campus is looking for candidates for a position as Associate Professor in valuation and design for sustainability transition. The position is open for appointment from July 1st 2018 or soon hereafter. The position as Associate Professor is permanent. The position has the number 42262. The candidate will contribute to develop and strengthen the departments existing profile on studying governance in sustainable transition processes through valuation in sociotechnical assemblages, i.e. societal systems such as water, energy and transport. This profiling will have a strong focus on urban transition and draw on inspiration from transition studies, STS and valuation studies.

Job description

Applicants to the position must in their research profile show experiences that include:

- a strong publication record in leading international journals on governance for sustainability transition in relation to water, energy and transport, preferably inspired by STS and valuation studies.  

- agenda setting national and international academic network activities in the area of governance and design for sustainability transition.

The position requires applicants that:

- have general knowledge in the fields of valuation studies, governance, system transition and STS and can demonstrate experience in applying these knowledge’s in teaching and in interaction with external planners and policy actors.  

- Is able to work in transdisciplinary teams and capable of integrating and mobilising engineering knowledge in governance- and design processes

Applicants should preferably hold experience in writing research applications and proven ability to attract external funding is desirable. Teaching will primarily be in the area of governance and design for sustainably transition in bachelors programs (taught in Danish) and masters programs (taught in English) at AAU Copenhagen.

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
