At the Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic systems, a position as Postdoc in Internet Governance and Digitalization is open for appointment from July 15, 2018 or soon hereafter. The position is available for 2 years and 8 months; 18,5 hours per week. The Department of Electronic Systems is one of the largest departments at Aalborg University with a total of more than 250 employees. The department is internationally recognized in particular for its contributions within Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The research and teaching of the Department of Electronic Systems focus on electronic engineering and the activity areas are organized in the sections: Antennas, Propagation and Millimetre-wave Systems section (APMS), Automation Control section (Control), Connectivity section (CNT), Signal and Information Processing section (SIP), Wireless Communication Networks section (WCN) and Communication, Media and Information technologies (CMI). The department focuses on maintaining a close interplay with the university’s surroundings - locally, nationally and internationally – as well as producing unique basic research and educating talented and creative engineers. The department collaborates with leading ICT researchers all over the world.

Job description

A Postdoc position is available at the center for Communication, Media and Information technologies (CMI) at Aalborg University-Copenhagen in Denmark.

The focus of the position is linked to the cross-disciplinary EU research project “the Digital Innovations Network (DIGINNO)”. The vision of DIGINNO is to promote the uptake of ICT in the Business sector, develop innovative Digital Public Services and facilitate the Digital Single market related policy discussions on the Baltic Sea region.

The research topics being investigated in the project includes Industry 4.0-Digital Transformation of industry, Digitalization of Cross-border G2B Public services and a potential digital policy for the Baltic Sea Region.

Within the general framework of the project, the postdoc project will focus on analyzes of Government to Business cross-border services including the digital infrastructure and services available in the Baltic Sea Region. The research will include mapping of the existing cross border services; investigation into selected show cases identifying barriers for and drivers in cross-border services and further developing policy tools pointing to areas where the public and private sector agencies can work together to improve existing/non existing digital cross-border services.

Applicants with a PhD in Internet Policy are preferred, however applicants with other relevant research qualifications may also apply.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
