Postdoc in Geotechnical Engineering

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Civil Engineering a position as postdoc in Geotechnical Engineering is open for appointment from August 1, 2018 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 1.5 years. The Department of Civil Engineering focuses on the technical and scientific disciplines within civil engineering. Research areas span from Indoor Environment, Wind Turbines, Structural Design, Structural Materials, Geotechnical Engineering,Wave Energy to Food+Design along with many other areas. The research is conducted in a national as well as an international research environment. The Department takes on contract research for both public institutions and private companies. The research projects involve both theoretical research and in situ measurements along with laboratory experiments. Job description

The research of the Geotechnical Engineering Group concerns the geotechnical and hydraulic aspects related to on and offshore geotechnical structures. The research is based on a combination of computational models and physical models in the laboratory and in the field. The laboratory-facilities are world-class and the researches carried out are most often in collaboration with industry.

As research also focuses on research activities of the group is the wish to contribute to a better understanding and modelling of such phenomena as scour and sedimentation, debris flow, wave impact on structures, large deformations in saturated granular materials and liquefaction.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
