Tenure track position as assistant professor with a special focus on Spatialization of Quantitative Data

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Sociology and Social Work, invites applications for a tenure track position as assistant professor with a special focus on Spatialization of Quantitative Data, is open for appointment from January 1st, 2020 or soon thereafter.

Job description

Applicants must demonstrate strong competence with spatial analyses of quantitative data and the use of advanced digital methods. Applicants with a proven ability to carry out empirical analysis by use of big data will be given preference.

The position should contribute to strengthening the department’s international research profile within the field of advanced spatial research and the utilization of big data in sociological research.

Teaching activities within the position include lecturing, supervision, coordination and planning both at the bachelor and master level within sociology, secondarily at the other study programs at the Department of Sociology and Social Work.



The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opportunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.

Qualification requirements

Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.

• List of publications that the applicant wishes to be considered. A maximum of 5 publications may be submitted.
• Co-author statements in relation to publications written with other authors must be enclosed with a declaration from each of the authors, stating the extent of the applicant's contribution to the total work. • Education (copies of documentation for degrees obtained).
• Documentation for teaching qualifications. Guide, at the bottom of this page.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
