Professor with Special Responsibilities in Impact studies and Innovation

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management at Aalborg University, a position as Professor with special responsibilities in Impact studies and Innovation focusing on developing the impact measurement and funding profile of the department, is open for appointment from 1. February 2020 or soon thereafter.

Job description

The position is a 5-year fixed term position with the possibility of a 3-year extension.

Applicants must be able to document competences to develop a prioritized research or teaching area according to international standards, and to document an achieved research impact and impact on the development of the research field, for example measured by citations and documented impact on society and/or policy-making.


Furthermore, the applicant should be able to carry out research leadership and research management. This includes proving their ability to engage with other researchers and to guide junior faculty in their career planning. As professor with special responsibilities, one is expected to contribute to the achievement of the department’s overall strategy and to act out intellectual leadership by taking on the role of research group leader if needed. This should go hand in hand with proven experience in designing and coordinating research projects as well as attracting external funding.

 

The applicant must have extensive experience with research-based teaching, including contributions to the development of teaching programs. This includes experience with supervision and teaching activities at master level as well as experience with new course development. The teaching experience must be documented in a teaching portfolio or equivalent.

 

Also, establishing relationships with the business community is of high importance in supporting the profile of the department and hence applicants are expected to contribute to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results.

The Department of Business and Management at Aalborg University conducts research in a wide array of business disciplines. The department is in the process of preparing itself for an accreditation and transformation into a business school with a strong focus on corporate involvement.

Qualification requirements

It is presupposed that applicants can document a high degree of original scientific production at an international level, and can document having contributed considerably to the development of the subject area of the job description. Furthermore, applicants must account for their potential to further develop the subject area. Emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to perform research management and other management functions, provide pedagogical guidance as well as supervision and take part in academic assessments. Special emphasis will be placed on the potential of the applicant to undertake the specific projects related to this position, cf. job description. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to be able to read Danish.

Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
