Postdoc in Urban Planning

At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning, a position as Postdoc in Urban Planning is open for appointment from 1st January 2020 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 25 month.

Job description

The Postdoc research and teaching activities will be carried out within the scientific field of Urban planning, focusing on topics such as contemporary sustainable urban planning and development, innovation and participatory methods and processes, urban sustainability issues in connection with SDGs goals and the UN new urban agenda, environmental justice, deliberation and empowerment and radical planning practice.

The research position is framed within the externally funded research project NordicPATH - Nordic participatory, healthy and people-centered cities – funded by the NordForsk program on Sustainable Urban Development and Smart Cities.  The project aims to generate valuable interdisciplinary knowledge about key societal challenges relating to sustainable urban development with high scientific quality. The Postdoc is expected to contribute to participatory methods in urban planning in Nordic countries with air quality monitoring as a driver of more sustainable cities.

Teaching activities within the position include lecturing, supervision, coordination, and planning primarily at BSc and MSc in urban planning and other study programs connected to urban research at Aalborg University.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

  • A motivated text wherein the reasons for applying, qualifications in relation to the position, and intentions and visions for the position are stated.
  • A current curriculum vitae.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas (Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
  • Additional qualifications in relation to the position. References/recommendations.
