At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of The Built Environment, a position as Assistant Professor in Road, Traffic and Transport open for appointment from 1. January 2021 or soon hereafter. The position is available for 2 years.

Job description

The research covered by the position will be within the core of the freight transport research group. Therefore, the applicant’s profile should address two or several areas of geographical information science, statistical and mathematical modelling, multi-criteria decision-making approaches, and techniques of exploratory research.

Applicants with expertise on modelling transport operations, freight data analytics, collaborative logistics, and transport infrastructure planning with focus on sustainability issues will be preferred, as the candidate is expected to teach in these topics on a master level.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in transportation engineering, industrial engineering, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise demonstrated by publications in the above-mentioned areas and who have worked for research projects in international environments on the topics relevant to the research interests of the group.

It is clearly an advantage that the applicant has a knowledge on Danish and European freight delivery industries as the successful candidate will participate in research activities within the Danish Research Center for Freight Transport which aims to enhance the knowledge level of the Danish freight transport industry and increase public awareness of the importance, opportunities and challenges of freight transportation.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

The application must contain the following: 

  • A statement outlining your reasons for applying, and intentions and visions with, the position.
  • Your curriculum vitae, including personal data, educational background, scientific qualifications, dissemination skills, participation in committees and boards, and additional qualifications relevant for the position.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas (Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
  • References/recommendations.

An assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
