A number of Assistant or Associate Professor in Finance, Accounting or Marketing

At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management at Aalborg University, a number of positions as Assistant or Associate Professor in Finance, Accounting or Marketing are available from 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The assistant professorship is a 4-year position, and the associate professorship is a permanent position.

Job description

Assistant Professor / Associate Professor

Applicants must document  research qualifications at either Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, including a relevant PhD degree and publications adhering to the level of the applied position. Applicants should illustrate the ability to conduct impactful research on an international level within the given field of research. It is expected that you can present an interesting and visionary research agenda illustrating potential research excellence and a future impact. If relevant, applicants should have experience in designing and coordinating research projects as well as being active in attracting external funding.

High-quality teaching is important and ideally this should be reflected in teaching evaluations. Aalborg University applies a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) perspective to its education activities. Prior experience with PBL is not a prerequisite, but you will be expected to partake in pedagogical courses relating to this. Moreover, establishing relationships with the business community is of high importance in supporting the profile of the department.

The Department of Business and Management at Aalborg University conducts research in a wide array of business disciplines. The department is in the process of preparing itself for an accreditation and transforming into a business school with a strong corporate engagement.

Assistant Professor

A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opporunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.

Associate Professor

An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which included an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To some extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

Qualification requirements - Assistant Professor

Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.

Qualification requirements - Associate Professor

It is presuppossed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluatio of their teaching qualifications.

Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experienace with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.
