Associate Professor in organizational communication

At the Department of Communication and Psychology, The Faculty of Humanities,Aalborg University, a position as Associate Professor in organizational communication is available from 1st of December 2018. The appointment will be a full-time position which will include both research and teaching activities.

Job description

The primary tasks associated with the position are research and teaching in the field of organizational communication that is within several of the areas as: leadership communication; intervention, facilitation and participation; development communication; virtual communication; global communication; HR-communication; organizational consultation, development and communication; inter-organization communication.

In terms of teaching, the position is primarily affiliated with the bachelor and master programs in Communication and Digital Media and must cover teaching within, Change and Intervention via Communication and Organizational Consultation, Communication and Development. Aalborg University employs a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, and previous experience of PBL will be considered an advantage.

In terms of research, the position is aimed at candidates who, through research at an international level, have conducted empirical studies of:

  • HR-communication
  • Leadership communication
  • Partipatory communication
  • Development communication

The successful candidate will primarily be affiliated with the knowledge resource group CODY(Center of Communication Dynamics) which conducts research within the following main areas:

  • Organisation, leadership and participation
  • Policy, public sphere and discourse

In terms of personal qualities, the successful candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain good rapport with researchers of various cultural and political backgrounds.

Regular attendance at the Department is required. In addition, applicants must be prepared to participate actively in all aspects of the day-to-day activities at the Department and in the study programmes. Associate professorship 
An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To some extent, the University may define additional tasks.

Applicants for the associate professorship are required to possess research qualifications at such a level as can be attained through the successful completion of a term of employment as assistant professor, researcher, postdoc or other similar positions. Applicants must document research at an international level. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

  • A complete publication list specifying publication types (monographs, co-authored publications, journals, etc.). All attached publications to be taken into consideration in connection with the assessment must be clearly indicated in the list. No more than ten publications may be attached.
  • In case you attach joint publications, a co-author statement must be enclosed specifying your contribution to the joint work. The co-author statement must be signed by at least one of the co-authors Template
  • Documentation of your teaching qualifications (Guide)
  • Copies of your degree certificates (including Master’s and PhD certificates) 

Applicants will be assessed by an expert assessment committee. Applicants may subsequently be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.
