Ph.D Stipend in International Organizations and Global Politics (2017-224-01362)

At Department of Culture and Global Studies, Faculty of Humanities, a position as PhD Fellow in International Organizations and Global Politics is available from 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job description

The position will have an analytical focus on the role of international actors in the redress of global conflict as well the structuring of international institutions in ways promoting inclusion and the amelioration of armed tension on both regional, national and global levels. The successful candidate will be expected to have a profile clearly oriented towards international organizations, be able to execute teaching in the Language and International Studies, English BA program, the MA program in Development and International Relations and participate in the Development and International Relations Research Group. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to teach in the areas of international relations, cultural globalization and international organizations, and specifically in relation to organizations such as the UN. The position demands full fluency in English in terms of both research production and teaching capabilities.  
 Qualification requirements
PhD stipends are normally for a period of 3 years. PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master’s degree, or expect to have obtained the Master’s degree before September 1, 2017 (thesis contract and documentation of the date of the exam must be enclosed).

It is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that the candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at Doctoral School of the Faculty of the Humanities, in accordance with the regulations of Ministerial Order No. 1039 of 27 August 2013 (PhD Order).

    The qualifications of the applicant will be assessed by an assessment committee. On the basis of the recommendation of the assessment committee, the Dean will make a decision for allocating the stipend.

Appointment and salary as a PhD fellow are according to the Ministry of Finance Circular of March 26, 2012 on the Collective Agreement for Academics in Denmark, Appendix 5, regarding PhD fellows, and with the Ministry of Finance Circular of June 13, 2007 on the employment structure at Danish Universities.


Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
