At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience a position as Associate Professor in Anaerobic Biotechnology is open for appointment from 1 October 2017 or soon hereafter. The Department consists of five sections of which three are situated in Aalborg with research and teaching in Biotechnology, Applied Chemistry and Environmental Technology, one in Esbjerg focusing on Chemical Engineering and one in Copenhagen focusing on Sustainable Biotechnology. The position is located within the section of Sustainable Biotechnology with working place in Copenhagen.   

Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY: The Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience is seeking a dynamic, motivated, problem-solving Associate Professor to join an extraordinary team of scientists and experts in Sustainable Biotechnology. The successful applicant shall participate in development of research in Anaerobic Biotechnology with focus on process technology within the frame of Biorefineries, participate in applying for external funding within the research area, function as supervisor for postdocs, PhD fellows and master students, and develop and participate in teaching at the educations in Sustainable Biotechnology and to a limited extent in Science Anthropology.

RESPONSIBILITES: The successful candidate must have experience within anaerobic microbiology, anaerobic biotechnology and process technology, a demonstrated record of publishing peer-reviewed research commensurate with career level, demonstrated experience in student mentoring, teaching and teaching planning, and preferably knowledge of problem and project based learning.

Additionally, evidence of excellent English communication skills, both written and oral, a record of competitive grant success commensurate with career level, documentation for ability to work in interdisciplinary teams to conduct research and outreach activities and demonstrated knowledge of research techniques applied to anaerobic and microbiological biotechnology is desired.

Qualification requirements:

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications.

Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
