Job description

The field of organizational communication is undergoing significant changes these years, not least due to the increasingly global nature of organizations and the emergence of electronic platforms that allow stakeholders to be actively engaged in the communication for and about organizations.

We are looking for a candidate whose previous and planned research will contribute to the development of theories, methods and practices in this field, and who can demonstrate research at professorship level within one or several areas of the field of organizational communication, including but not limited to:

  • management and communication
  • organizational identity and culture
  • genre studies
  • social media genres

Research and research management

The application must provide a convincing and well-argued framework proposing ideas as to how to initiate a collective and visionary research agenda within humanistic research in the field, and how to build up and manage a research group for achieving the goals set in the agenda. To make the research agenda sustainable, the Department of Culture and Global Studies has set aside funds for a doctoral as well as a post-doctoral fellowship. Both fellowships will be affiliated with the research group Communication and Culture in Professional Contexts, and the new Professor in Organizational Communication will have considerable influence on wording and contents when the positions are advertised.

The candidate will be a leading member of the research group Communication and Culture in Professional Contexts. He or she is expected to strengthen the research capacity and international research collaboration of the group and must therefore have demonstrated the ability to recruit, support and supervise talented younger researchers. Moreover, the ideal candidate has a strong track record in research management.

Teaching and supervision

For teaching and supervision activities, English is used as the medium of instruction, and applicants must therefore master English at a high academic level. The candidate must have a strong teaching record, and it will be considered an advantage, but not a requirement, that he or she is familiar with problem-based learning, which is the pedagogical model at Aalborg University.

In terms of personal qualities, the candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal skills, and to be able to establish and maintain good relations with researchers and students in an environment characterised by cultural diversity.

Daily attendance at the Department is required. In addition, the new professor must be prepared to participate actively in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Department, School and Research Group.
