The Department of Communication at Aalborg University Copenhagen invites applications for the vacant position of Assistant Professor in information studies to commence on 1 August 2017. The position is available for a period of 3 years

Job description

The post is aimed at applicants with documented research in the field of information science, and specifically within a minimum of one of the following five areas:

- User and Behavioral Profiling

- Information Behavior

- Interaction Design, User Experience and Usability Testing

- Data Mining and Business Intelligence

- Quantitative Methods

In terms of teaching, for the time being, the position is primarily affiliated with the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Communication and Digital Media, and with the Master’s program in Information Studies in particular. Aalborg University employs a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, and knowledge of PBL will therefore be considered an advantage.

The post will be affiliated with the research and teaching environment Communication and Information Studies (CIS) at AAU-CPH. A branch of the Department of Communication has been based in Copenhagen since 2008.

Assistant professorship
A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. The appointment includes a requirement to attend a course in university pedagogy for assistant professors organised by the University.

The employment as assistant professor must not exceed a total period of four years at the same institution (a maximum of six years at assistant professor level at AAU and a maximum of eight years at assistant professor level in Denmark). 

Applicants for the assistant professorship are required to possess academic qualifications; for example a PhD degree or similar academic qualifications.

  • A complete publication list and markings of the attached publications to be taken into consideration in connection with the assessment. No more than five publications may be attached
  • In case you attach co-authored publications, a co-authorship statement must be enclosed specifying your contribution to the joint work. This co-authorship statement must be signed by at least one of the co-authors.
  • Documentation of your teaching qualifications (Guide)
  • Copies of your degree certificates (including Master’s and PhD certificates) 

Applicants will be assessed by an expert assessment committee. Applicants may be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.
