Associate Professor in Communication Studies with a focus on strategic and organisational communication

The Department of Communication and Psychology, The Faculty of Humanities (Aalborg University, in Copenhagen), invites applications for the vacant position of Associate Professor in Communication Studies with a focus on strategic and organisational communication to commence on 1 August 2017 or as soon after this date as possible. The position is a full time permanent position and comprises both research and teaching.

Job description

 The primary focus is on research in and teaching of communication, with a focus on strategic and organizational communication, rhetoric and interpersonal communication. As such the postion is aimed at applicants with documented research in the field of communications studies, and specifically within a minimum of one of the following four areas:

  • Strategic communication
  • Organisational communication 
  • Classical and modern rhetoric
  • Interpersonal communication  

Research experience within the following fields will also be considered an advantage:

  • Learning models within university pedagogy
  • Action research.

In terms of teaching, for the time being, the position is primarily affiliated with the bachelor and master programmes in Communication and Digital Media. Aalborg University employs a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, and knowledge of PBL will therefore be considered an advantage.

The position will be affiliated with the research and teaching environment Communication and Information Studies (CIS) at AAU-CPH. A branch of the Department of Communication and Psychology has been based in Copenhagen since 2008.

The applicant is expected to have good cooperation skills as well as being capable of creating and maintaining good relations to researchers with different cultural and political backgrounds.

Associate professorship
An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To some extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

Applicants for the associate professorship are required to possess research qualifications at such a level as can be attained through the successful completion of a term of employment as assistant professor, researcher, postdoc or other similar positions. Applicants must document research at an international level. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

  • A complete publication list specifying publication types (monographs, co-authored publications, journals, etc.). All attached publications to be taken into consideration in connection with the assessment must be clearly indicated in the list. No more than ten publications may be attached.
  • In case you attach joint publications, a co-author statement must be enclosed specifying your contribution to the joint work. The co-author statement must be signed by at least one of the co-authors.
  • Documentation of your teaching qualifications (Guide)
  • Copies of your degree certificates (including Master’s and PhD certificates)
