Postdoc in HTPEM Fuel Cell Systems (P21735)

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Energy Technology a position as postdoc in HTPEM fuel cell systems is open for appointment from 1 November 2017 or soon thereafter. The position is available for a period of 1 year. The Department of Energy Technology is an expanding department covering most fields of Energy Technology ranging from electrical energy (Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines to thermal energy including Energy Systems and Fluid Mechanics and Combustion but also mechatronic systems. The department has about 250 employees – out of them are more than 100 Ph.D. students. The laboratory-facilities are world-class and the research carried out are most often in collaboration with industry. The position is offered in relation to the research program Fuel Cell and Battery Systems and the postdoc will be positioned to the section for Fluid Mechanics and Combustion.

Job description

Research areas will be within high temperature PEM fuel cell systems. The main focus of the work will be characterization and modelling of fuel cell stacks as well as complete systems including methanol reforming. Test stations from Greenlight Innovation will be used in the experimental work and experience from working with such systems is an advantage. The applicant should also document a suitable background in fuel cells, preferably high temperature PEM. In particular, experience on experimental characterization of performance and degradation of cell and stacks operated on reformed methanol will be an advantage. The position will be part of a project with Serenergy on optimization of methanol fuel cell systems.

Qualification requirements: 
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
