One or more Postdoc's in Mechanistic Pain Profiling of Patients with Chronic Pain

At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology one or more positions as Postdoc in Mechanistic Pain Profiling of Patients with Chronic Pain are open for appointment from April 1, 2018 or soon hereafter. The positions are available for a period of 18 months.

Job description

The concept of “Personalized Pain Medicine” revolves around assessing the underlying mechanisms for pain and treating these mechanisms, and SMI has been pioneer within this field for decades. The current project aims to investigate mechanistic pain profiles of thousands of healthy subjects. Further, the project will also investigate mechanistic pain profiles in several clinical cohorts via national and international collaborators already committed to the project. Currently, the focus will be on osteoarthritis, low back pain, and pharmaceutical interventions, but a successful candidate is encouraged to include further pain conditions within her or his field of expertise.

Required Qualifications
• A Ph.D. within neuroscience, pharmacology, medicine, clinical science, biomedical engineering, or equivalent
• A track record showing ability to work independently and also in collaboration with others
• A track record of high profiled peer-review publications within neuroscience, bio-engineering, pharmacology, medical, or related areas
• A high proficiency level in oral and written English

• Statistical knowledge
• Previous experience on working with “Big Data”
• An established national and international network

Qualification requirements: 
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
