Associate Professor in Techno-Anthropology (42260)

The Department of Planning at Aalborg University’s Aalborg Campus is looking for candidates for a position as Associate Professor in Techno-Anthropology. The working hour per week is 29,6 (80%). The position is open for appointment from August 1st 2018 or soon hereafter. The position as Associate Professor position is open for appointment for a period of 2 years.

Job description

The Associate professor will be integrated in the research group for ‘Techno-Anthropology and Participation’ at the Department of Planning (http://www.en.plan.aau.dk/research+groups/tapar/). This research group conduct socio-technical research. Teaching will primarily be in the Techno-Anthropology study program, but also in other study programmes at the University.

The preferred candidate has

  • a PhD in engineering
  • documented research at a high international level preferably within the areas of technology assessments, socio-technical design and/or technology innovation. We especially welcome applications with research experience in innovation and creativity.
  • experience in teaching and supervision of students in a variety of subjects related to Techno-Anthropology or equivalent on bachelors, masters and PhD level.
  • experience and results related to external funding and cooperation with partners inside and outside Academia as well as an international research network and experience in research project management. We especially welcome applications from candidates with experience in cooperation with Chinese organisations.
  • Proficiency in the English language is a requirement. Applicants must have the ability to read/speak a Scandinavian language or the willingness to learn Danish.

Research and teaching in Techno-Anthropology is highly interdisciplinary. Thus, the preferred candidate must be capable of and interested in facilitating cross-disciplinary research and prepared to engage in cross-faculty teaching. Qualification requirements as Associate Professor: The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

  • A complete list of publications.
  • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
  • References/recommendations.

An assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
