At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, The Department of Planning at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen Campus is looking for candidates for a position as Associate professor in Sustainable Transition and Design of Sustainable Urban Infrastructures. The position is open for appointment from August 1st 2018 or soon hereafter. The position as Associate Professor is permanent. The Associate Professor position has the number 42263. The department is currently strengthening the research on Sustainable Transitions in Sustainable Urban Infrastructures and Systems Design. The applicant will become part of a research group studying the coordination and mediation processes for the development of sustainable mobility visions in urban transition processes, which is inspired by STS and systems design.

Job description

Applicants to the position must in their research profile show knowledge of and experiences that include:

- a strong research and publication record in leading international journals on design of sustainable urban infrastructures, preferably inspired by STS and systems design.  

- agenda setting national and international academic network activities in the area of how design methods can contribute to the creation of new sustainable urban infrastructures and analysis of sustainable transition processes.


The position requires applicants that:

- have a general knowledge on engineering and design issues including experience with engineering design and methods applied to design activities

- ability to work in interdisciplinary teams including socio-technical approaches to design and urban issues

- have experience in teaching in the area of sustainable transition of urban infrastructures in bachelors programs as well as masters programs.

Applicants should preferably have experience in writing research applications and proven ability to attract external funding is desirable. Teaching will primarily be contributing to the bachelor programme Bæredygtigt Design (taught in Danish) and the masters programme Sustainable Design (taught in English).

Qualification requirements: 

The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
