About the organization

The Department of Clinical Medicine was established January 1. 2013. The department is located in connection with Aalborg University Hospital where research, education and clinical work is united.

The Department of Clinical Medicine does clinical research within all the clinical disciplines and delivers research-based teaching to all areas of the medical master’s degree program. Furthermore, the Department of Clinical Medicine has around 40 research units each with their own specialty. Many of the research units are organized in interdisciplinary collaborations within larger research areas such as coronary diseases, cancer and neurological conditions.

The position is associated with the research section at the Department of Hematology, Aalborg University Hospital. Our research section has >20 employees and is working in a multi-disciplinary effort ranging from molecular biology, medicine, bioinformatics, and statistics to understand cancer cell resistance to treatment and transfer it to new diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive methods for clinical use. About the position

The areas covered by this position include clinical research based on our national quality databases as well as other national registries. The primary aim with this position is to establish a clinical research program that supports clinical practice through analysis of data in existing registries (real world evidence and prognostic/predictive modelling). The candidate will be involved in all tasks related to this work, including applying for data, data management, and analyses.

You will mainly be working with doctors and statisticians from the Department of Hematology, Aalborg University Hospital, but the position also bridges to the Department of Clinical Epidemiology where you will spend some of your time.

Limited teaching within the area should be expected, but also in other study programs at the University.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD-level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

You should hold a degree in mathematics or statistics. You will need strong skills in data management and statistical analyses and are willing to learn programming in R and SAS (if not already experienced with these programs), data applications, and report writing. Mastering English at a professional level is required. Applicants experienced with work with clinical databases (hematology in particular) and/or the national Danish Registry are preferred.

Candidates with previous work experience should have documented research activities, including knowledge of clinical databases and preferably also experience with publishing scientific work. Documentation of continuous research activity and ability to work independently will be preferred.
