At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology a 2-year position as Assistant Professor in electrophysiology and pain neuroscience is open for appointment from October 1st, 2018 or soon hereafter. The position will be affiliated with Center for Neuroplasticity and Pain (CNAP).

Job description

The Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the area of health science and technology. The department has more than 250 employees and is responsible for more than 1700 students. More than 200 PhD students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. The department has laboratory facilities for Multichannel EEG and EMG analysis, NMR-and electrical stimulations, ECG-analysis, ultrasound, 3-d movement analysis, respiratory and circulatory examinations, sensory and motor tunetions analysis, clean room facilities, cell growth, molecular biology etc. for more see: www.hst.aau.dk In 2000 AAU established a new five year master program within biomedical engineering, in 2006 within medicine with industrial specialization, in 2007 within Sports Science and latest in 2010 within medicine. All educations at AAU are based on problem based teaching. The main objective of the research in the position should be within multichannel EEG acquisition and -analysis to study cortical neuroscience mechanisms related to pain processing in humans. The main objectives focus on detection of plastic changes associated with chronic pain. The qualified candidate must document research experience with sensory stimulation paradigms, signal processing, source localization, machine learning, and classification of EEG signals. Teaching will be within e.g. Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Sports Science and other relevant programmes at the department. The position will be affiliated to the research group Integrative Neuroscience, CNAP, SMI at the Department of Health Science and Technology. The candidate should hold a PhD based on a MSc within Biomedical Engineering or equivalent. Qualification requirements:

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).   • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.
