Job description

Aalborg University contributes to the knowledge building of the global society as well as the development of prosperity, welfare and culture of Danish society. This is accomplished through research, research-based
education, public sector services and knowledge collaboration. Aalborg University educates students for the future and activities are based on a dynamic and transformative collaboration with the surrounding
community.

AAU Energy is a dynamic engineering research department in continuous growth and inspiring surroundings.
AAU Energy has a very international environment and covers all areas of clean and sustainable energy systems of the future within electrical, thermal and mechatronic energy technology. AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is located in Aalborg.

The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.

The position is offered in relation to the research program"Power Electronics Packaging, Materials and Emerging Applications" and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Power Electronics System Integration and Materials.

The position is within the project of Center of Digitalized Electronics(CoDE) funded by the Grundfos foundation. Here research is focused on digital design tools, finite element analysis of power electronics assemblies and demonstration of new power electronics packaging concepts for improved efficiency in power converters.

Research areas for this position, will be within analysis, simulation and experimental testing of new power module packaging concepts of low- and medium voltage SiC MOSFET power modules, and their electrical switching performance, thermal performance and electromagnetic interference phenomena, especially focusing on the influence of parasitic capacitive coupling in three-phase inverters.

The overall mission is to study how new power module packaging concepts can improve the overall system efficiency of liquid cooled three-phase SiC MOSFET inverter systems and demonstrate their performance
during continuous operation.

A suitable candidate for the position has a background with a Masters degree and PhD within power electronics and drives, and has significant experience with experimental testing and building of hardware for testing of SiC MOSFET power modules such as double pulse testing or three-phase inverters. Knowledge within power module packaging structures, parasitics extraction in power electronic components(such as using ANSYS Q3D Extractor or COMSOL Multiphysics), LTSpice circuit simulation of switching dynamics and
power loss measurement is required for the selection as a candidate for the position. As part of an academic project having a record of publishing in international high-ranked journals of results within SiC MOSFET power module switching dynamics, finite element analysis, circuit simulation, thermal performance or noise propagation is beneficial.
