Job description

Millimeter waves have high potential to be applied in future drones and satellite communications. To overcome the path loss, high gain and beam steerable antennas are required in these systems. Due to the limited power supply in drones and satellites, antennas with beam scanning capability should be high efficient. Furthermore, for satellite and drone applications, multiple factors such as cost, complexity, performance, antenna size and weight should be considered.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a postdoc-level researcher and teacher. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of radio frequency(RF) and antenna design, with a focus on developing innovative methods for efficient wideband and beam-steering antennas for millimeter-wave satellite and drone applications.

Qualifications:

    • A master’s degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. with a focus on RF and antenna design.
    • High proficiency in CST Design Studio software, MatLab, and Python for antenna design and optimization.
    • Experience in the design, simulation, and hardware implementation of various antenna types.
    • Proven experience in designing antennas that achieve features such as beam-steering, dual-band, and millimeter-wave frequency operation. Antenna designs for satellite and drone applications would be advantageous.
    • Demonstrated expertise in RF and antenna design, with a strong publication record including journal papers in high-impact factor journals such as IEEE Transaction on Antenna and Propagation.
    • Prior experience in antenna measurement techniques in an anechoic chamber.
    • Prior experience in teaching electrical engineering courses would benefit the candidate.

Successful funding applications would be considered an advantage for the candidate.

Antennas as transmitting and receiving components in wireless systems are widely used in both conventional and emerging areas, e.g., 6G, small satellites, biology, industry 4.0, and so on. The Antennas Group at AAU aims at all challenging applications where antennas or electromagnetics can be applied to gain advantages.

You may obtain further professional information from Professor Gert Frølund Pedersen, email: gfp@es.aau.dk.

Qualification requirements:

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

The application must contain the following:

      • A motivated text wherein the reasons for applying, qualifications in relation to the position, and intentions and visions for the position are stated.
      • A current curriculum vitae.
      • Copies of relevant diplomas(Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
      • Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 5 publications.
      • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
      • Additional qualifications in relation to the position. References/recommendations.
      • Personal data.

The applications are only to be submitted online by using the"Apply online" button below.

Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed.
