About the National Center of Excellence for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT)

The purpose of PREDICT is to study and unravel the cause, prognosis, and co-morbidities of inflammatory about bowel diseases (IBD), which are chronic and disabling diseases affecting millions of people worldwide. PREDICT is organized as a broad, national interdisciplinary endeavor with partners and collaborators located at Aalborg University Copenhagen, Aalborg University Aalborg, Aalborg University Hospital, and University of Copenhagen, involving both clinicians and basic scientists. PREDICT also has strong collaborations with leading international institutions, including Mount Sinai New York, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London, University of North Carolina, the Francis Crick Institute, and Sorbonne University.

The Assistant Professor Position

We are looking to recruit an outstanding assistant professor who is eager to take the lead in building up the center’s expertise in nutritional aspects of IBD, including nutritional epidemiology, application of novel molecular approaches within nutritional research, and intervention studies. The Assistant Professor will perform high impact research on how nutrition influences the development of and disease course in IBD. Examples of study areas include macro- and micronutrients, processed foods, and food additives. The center has access to valuable resources for nutritional epidemiology studies, including biological samples, as well as a high-ranking clinical setting for intervention studies.

The Assistant Professor will take primary responsibility for new research projects- from study planning to study conduct, writing of scientific papers, obtaining of funding and presentation of research at national and international meetings, and training of students- while transitioning to become an independent researcher.
The successful candidate will also have administrative tasks related to the everyday running of the center, as part of the team of group leaders referring to the center director.

The Assistant Professor will be working closely with the Center’s interdisciplinary group of scientists to perform forefront, international research. The place of work will be Aalborg University Copenhagen (Copenhagen South Harbour), where the core facilities of the National Center for Excellence are located.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with skills in nutrition and a special interest in IBD.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A PhD in nutrition or a PhD in epidemiology and special interest/other training in nutrition
  • Knowledge of epidemiology and statistics
  • Previous high-quality publications
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • Excellent skills in initiating projects and working independently
  • Excellent collaborative skills

Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed.
