The National Center of Excellence PREDICT, based at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University in Copenhagen, is looking to recruit a highly skilled post-doctoral fellow in clinical epidemiology to join our international and interdisciplinary group of dedicated researchers. Start of employment: 1 November 2025 or soon hereafter. The position is a two-year full-time position.

Your work tasks

We offer an exciting postdoc position in a dynamic, informal, high-performing environment with dedicated, friendly colleagues.

We are looking to recruit an excellent postdoctoral fellow in clinical epidemiology in connection with an ambitious new large-scale study within molecular epidemiology. The study will combine data from the Danish nation-wide registries with pre-diagnostic biological data to study how genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and epigenetics influence the onset and disease progression of IBD. The postdoc fellow will join a multidisciplinary research environment and work with clinicians and biostatisticians as well as experts in the molecular specialties and is expected to have or obtain expertise in IBD, medical and surgical treatment of IBD, and long-term outcomes of IBD, and contribute with this expertise in collaborations with other disciplines within the center.

The postdoctoral fellow will assume primary responsibility for new research projects - from study planning to conducting the study, writing scientific articles, obtaining funding and presenting research at national and international meetings, and training students - while carrying out the transition to becoming an independent researcher.

The postdoctoral fellow will refer to Center Director, Professor Tine Jess, and will work closely with the Center's interdisciplinary group of scientists to conduct cutting-edge international research. The workplace will be Aalborg University Copenhagen (Copenhagen South Harbour), where the main facilities of the National Center of Excellence are located.

Your Competencies

We are looking for a candidate with a background in public health, medicine or similar, and excellent skills in clinical epidemiology, advanced data analysis, and a special interest in IBD.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A PhD in clinical epidemiology
  • Has demonstrated expertise in working with registry data or other types of electronic healthcare databases.
  • Previous high-quality publications
  • Experience with project management
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • Excellent skills in initiating projects and working independently
  • Excellent collaborative skills

Qualification requirements

Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
