Researcher in Flexibility-Oriented Energy Markets and Systems
At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Assistant Professor in Flexibility-Oriented Energy Markets and Systems, is open for appointment from January 1, 2026, or soon hereafter. The position is a full-time position for 3 years.
Your work tasks and competencies
The position is offered in relation to the research group "Intelligent Energy Systems and Flexible Markets (iGRIDS)" and the Researcher will be positioned to the section for “Electric Power Systems and Microgrids”.
The research areas will focus on developing models, methods, and tools to support the coordinated utilization of flexibility across energy systems and markets. The successful candidate must have experience and competences in the following areas:
- Modelling and simulation of flexible, integrated energy systems, including applications in ports, eco-industrial parks, and energy communities
- Design of energy markets for the procurement and activation of flexibility services at TSO/DSO levels
- Development of business models supporting flexible energy production, storage, and consumption
- Techno-economic and operational analysis of flexibility strategies and digital market mechanisms
Expertise in hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing and coding skills using Python or JAVA programming is an advantage. Some teaching activities within the research area and collaboration with our team for translating research ideas into project proposals, is expected. English proficiency at CEFR C1 (IELTS 6.5) or above is highly recommended.
