At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Energy Technology a position as Professor in Electronic Power Grid is open for appointment from 1.11.2019 or soon hereafter. The Department of Energy Technology is an expanding department covering most fields of Energy Technology ranging from electrical energy (Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines to thermal energy including Energy Systems and Fluid Mechanics and Combustion but also mechatronic systems). The department has about 230 employees – out of them are more than 100 Ph.D. students. The laboratory-facilities are world-class and the research carried out are most often in collaboration with industry.The position is offered in relation to the research program "Electronic Power Grid (eGrid)" and the professor will be positioned to the section for Power Electronic Systems.

Job description

The position requires research qualifications at Doctor level within grid applications of power electronics, power-electronic-based power systems, power electronics for renewables and energy-efficiency improvement. Experiences on the stability, power quality and control of grid-interactive converters and converter-based transmission/distribution systems are of interest.
A successful application prerequisite that the applicant demonstrates a documented expertise in most of the areas below:
•    Small- and large-signal modeling and design-oriented analysis of converter-based resources (wind and solar) and transmission systems (HVDC and FACTS).  
•    Harmonic stability and transient stability in renewable power plants, dc grids, and other emerging electronic (converter-dominant) power systems.
•    Control of power converters in weak power grids including low short-circuit strength and low inertia systems.
•    Harmonic modeling, analysis, and mitigation in electronic power systems
•    Innovative concept and solutions for the large-scale integration of distributed power generation and energy-efficient power loads.
•    Use of wide-bandgap (SiC) power devices for high-power and medium-voltage power electronic systems.
The demonstrated international impact and the teaching experience in the related field will be considered.

Teaching will primarily be in the Energy study programme at bachelor and master levels, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements:
The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
