2020-224-02822 Postdoc in Operation Management of Microgrids and Closed Ecological Systems

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Energy Technology, a position as postdoc in Operation Management of Microgrids and Closed Ecological Systems is open for appointment from 1 August 2020 or soon thereafter. The position is available for a period of 2 years. The Department of Energy Technology is an expanding department covering most fields of Energy Technology ranging from electrical energy (Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines to thermal energy including Energy Systems and Fluid Mechanics and Combustion but also mechatronic systems. The department consists of about 280 employees with more than 120 Ph.D. students. The laboratory-facilities are world-class and the research carried out are most often in collaboration with industry. The position is offered in relation to the research program "Microgrids" and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section 3 – Power Electronic Systems.

Job description

Research areas will be within control and operation management of renewable-based microgrids and closed ecological systems, which is a cross-disciplinary topic that brings together a collection of diverse approaches to do with smart energy and ecological systems. We expect that you have a solid and proven background in modeling, stochastic predictive control, optimization techniques, and energy management of microgrids, as well as in closed ecological systems and life support systems, and interoperability of integrated energy systems. Working experience with transdisciplinary collaborations and external research and development projects is an asset. Experience in Microgrid prototyping and small-scale test-benches using dSPACE platforms is a requirement. Furthermore, you are expected to have a strong publication record in reputed journals and experience in teaching. Teaching activities within the position include lecturing, supervision, coordination, and planning primarily at BSc, MSc and Ph.D. levels secondarily in other study programs at the University. You should envision teaching and student project supervision by using problem-based learning.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
