Postdoc in Green Biorefining (2020-224-03098)

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience a position as Postdoc in Green Biorefining is open for appointment in the period 01.12.2020 - 30.11.2022 or soon hereafter. The position is part-time with 30 weekly hours. The Department consists of five sections of which three are situated in Aalborg with research and teaching in Biotechnology, Applied Chemistry and Environmental Technology, one in Esbjerg on Chemical Engineering and one in Copenhagen on Sustainable Biotechnology. The position is located within the section of Sustainable Biotechnology with working place in Copenhagen.

Job description

Research areas will be within Green Biorefining.

The objectives for post doc are to develop biotechnological methods within green biorefining. This involves the development of efficient methods for extraction of proteins from green biomass, participation in upscaling the methods in pilot facilities with partners, and evaluating the different fractions of the biomass for potential uses, including studies of compounds within the biomass as well as the usage of the fractions as fermentation media.

The successful candidate holds a PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemical engineering or similar and solid experience in green biorefining methods such as extraction of proteins from green biomass, mass balances, protein characterization, enzymes and microbiology. Moreover, the successful candidate must document publications within the present area.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
