Assistant Professor in Business Design Thinking

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Aalborg University Business School a full time position as assistant professor in Business Design Thinking is open for appointment from 1 April 2021 or soon thereafter for maximum 4 years.

Job description

Aalborg University Business School is looking for an Assistant Professor that can contribute to teaching and supervision, research and knowledge dissemination at the Business School.

The assistant professorship will be associated with the Business Design Lab and must cover one or more of the following fields:

  • Business Design
  • Business Model Design
  • Design Thinking
  • Gamification of Business Design
  • Design thinking Methodology

The applicants for the position are expected to take an active part in existing Business Design Lab research activities and have a research strategy focusing on facilitation of (strategic) business design thinking through game strategies and design methodologies. As such, the applicants are expected to identify, discuss and test challenges and potentials of facilitating business design thinking through game strategies. Therefore, experience with conducting design research, developing theory based game design and facilitations of collaborative design thinking processes is preferable, but not a necessary requirement. Furthermore, the applicants are expected to be active in attracting external funding.

Teaching activities include lecturing, supervision, coordination and planning at the Business School’s study program in economics and business administration (BA and MA). The applicants are expected to contribute to the ongoing revision and development of various business design (thinking) courses and topics related to this at our BA and MA.

The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opportunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.

Qualification requirements
Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.

Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

Assessment
An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
