Research Assistant in Develop Digital Twin Approach for Medium Voltage Wind Turbine Power Electronics

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Energy Technology, a 2 year position as Research Assistant in Power Electronics is open for appointment from 1st July 2021 or soon hereafter. The workplace is in Aalborg. Job description

The position is offered in relation to the research program eGrid and the research assistant will be positioned to the section for Power Electronic Systems Integration and Materials. The position is funded by the Center for Digitalization of Power Electronics, CoDE, Poul Due Jensen Grundfos Foundation.

Product qualification and testing of new medium voltage technology involves high risk in safety and price. A digital twin can provide unique insight into the behavior of the system and predict any error scenarios and clarify what is a safe operating pattern. The digital twin uses measurements of eg. voltages, currents, temperatures on the medium voltage power converter stack in the wind turbine demonstrator developed in the MVolt project.  The purpose is to verify the digital twin developed and ensure robust operation At the same time, it will create a software platform, as well as important insights into the preparation of future digital twin implementations of WBG motor drives.

Mandatory position requirements is technical experience and created results involving specific topics:

1) design driven by using the key  tools Ansys Q3D, LTspice  and Altium  
2) experimental validation of power converter prototypes and demonstrating the validation of design
3)  you should have research experience in power converters enabled by Wide-Band-Gap transistors. 

You should expect to write a number of publications to be presented in high impact scientific journals and conferences as we see academic achievements and networking as important for personal development.

The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics. The first 3 months of your employment is a trial period.
