At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology a position as Professor in Digital Health and Diabetes is open for appointment from November1, 2022 og soon hereafter. Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research, teaching and dissemination within biomedical engineering, sports science and medicine. The department has more than 250 employees and is responsible for more than 1700 students. More than 100 PhD students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. The researchers are organized in a number of research groups and centres, and the department has at its disposal laboratory and clean room facilities for cell growth, molecular biology, brain analysis, 3D movement analysis, respiratory and circulatory examinations, sensory and motor functions analysis, etc. All study programs at Aalborg University involve problem-based learning, organized around cases and projects. Job description

At the Faculty of Medicine, Aalborg University, our 2030 vision is to be leading in Digital Health by specializing in AI, telemedicine, and data-driven personalized medicine to improve clinical practice. Therefore, we wish to maintain and strengthen our expertise and research portfolio within the area of Digital Health and Diabetes at the Department of Health Science and Technology. The position is part of a close collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Steno Diabetes Center North Denmark and the position is financed by the two institutions. The candidate will be employed by Aalborg University. The place of employment will be both at the Faculty of Medicine and Steno Diabetes Center North Denmark.

The successful candidate has a Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering and Informatics or equivalent with strong research qualifications within Digital Health and Diabetes incl. artificial intelligence, epidemiology and telemedicine in diabetes and other associated chronic diseases. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated a profound interest in collaboration with the Danish health sector institutions such as local hospitals, regions, and municipalities. Since the candidate will have significant interaction with patients and clinicians, he or she should have good oral and writing skills in Danish.

The successful candidate should have a teaching portfolio that demonstrates teaching qualifications in relevant programs in the department (e.g. Biomedical Engineering and Informatics, Medicine and Medicine with industrial specialization). The successful candidate should expect to have teaching duties in other programs in the department and university, including the doctoral schools, and should demonstrate teaching experience at the graduate and post-graduate levels such as PhD supervision and planning of PhD courses. Most of the teaching will be conducted in Danish and some in English.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a high level of research activity in the area of artificial intelligence, epidemiology and telemedicine in diabetes and other associated chronic diseases including original scientific production, funding and research management.

Qualification requirements:
The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

  • A current curriculum vitae.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas (Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be attached with an indication of the works the applicant wishes to be considered. You may attach up to 10 publications.
  • Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio.  If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.
  • Additional qualifications in relation to the position.
  • References/recommendations.

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
