Research Assistant in Interactive Narratives in Extended Realities - Copenhagen

At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, Aalborg University, Copenhagen campus, a full-time position is open for appointment for a 12 months period from February 15 2023 or soonest thereafter. The Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research, which integrate creativity, engineering, and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user. The Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology (Copenhagen section), conducts research in Multimodal Interaction and Virtual Reality, Lighting Design, Service Design, and Sound and Music Computing, with applications in entertainment, health and rehabilitation among many others.

Job description

In this role, you will conduct research on design and evaluation of interactive digital narratives in immersive systems (VR/AR), with emphasis in narrative persuasion in extended reality. You will be involved as teaching assistant in the interactive digital narrative field and is expected to contribute to the work of the Augmented Cognition Lab and to contribute to develop grant applications. 

You have:

  • Good analytical, methodological, and theoretical competencies in areas such as interactive digital narratives, narrative cognition, narrative persuasion, participatory design methods, and user experience.
  • Preferably experience as RA in international collaborative research projects (e.g.: EU projects).
  • Previous education in Media Technology.
  • Some relevant teaching experience is desirable.

The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
