At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic Systems, one or more positions as Assistant Professor in Electronic Systems are open for appointment from May 1, 2023, or soon hereafter. The positions are available for a period of 4 years. In the area of electronics engineering, Aalborg University is known worldwide for its high academic quality and the societal relevance of its research programmes. The Department of Electronic Systems consists of more than 200 employees, of which about 40 % are international and about 90 are enrolled PhD students. The Department hosts 620 students. The Department's excellent research infrastructures and facilities accentuate its global position in teaching and research. The Department's research centres around communication, antennas, control systems, AI, sound, cybersecurity and robotics. The Department plays an active role in translating discoveries and results into practical applications with industrial partners and IPR. Job description

We wish to appoint one or more Assistant Professors to take part in research, teaching and knowledge exchange and develop the Department's activities and scientific discovery within our subject field.

The position requires internationally recognized research experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Antennas
  • Communications and networking
  • Control systems
  • Cybersecurity
  • Embedded systems
  • High-frequency electronics
  • Information theory
  • Machine learning
  • Radio propagation
  • Robotics
  • Signal- and information processing

You must have the ability to:

  • Demonstrate intellectual originality, develop their research profile.
  • Provide valuable contributions to science.
  • Provide research-based teaching and supervision within at least one subject areas.
  • Participate in grant application activities regarding research funds.
  • Coordinate their own projects and contribute to an active academic environment.

Qualification requirements:

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

The application must contain the following: 

  • A statement outlining your reasons for applying, and intentions and visions with, the position.
  • Your curriculum vitae, including personal data, educational background, scientific qualifications, dissemination skills, participation in committees and boards, and additional qualifications relevant for the position.
  • Copies of relevant diplomas (Master of Science and PhD). On request you could be asked for an official English translation.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
  • References/recommendations.

Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed. All applicants will be informed as to whether they will advance to assessment or not.

Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
