Professor in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Systems (SOEC) (2023-224-05094)

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a part-time position as Professor in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Systems (SOEC) is open for appointment from 1st July 2023 or soon hereafter. The position is part-time; with 7,4 hours per week (20%).

Job description

AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is in Aalborg. 

The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world. 

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent. 

The position is offered in relation to the research program "Electro-Fuels" and the Professor will be positioned to the Section of Thermal Engineering.

The position requires research qualifications at Doctorate level within electro-chemical or chemical systems related to solid oxide electrolysis systems.

Teaching will primarily be in fields of Thermal and Process Engineering, but also in other study programmes at the University. Teaching and supervision activities will primarily be in the field of electrochemical systems and other thermo-chemical processes.
It is expected that applicants have experience with teaching of courses and supervision of students at university level and can present a teaching portfolio documenting these competencies.

Applicants for the position must have a documented scientific or industrial research background and experience in the field of electrolysis systems and other electrochemical systems including experience with laboratory testing. Particularly, focus on the development of components and systems related to high temperature solid oxide electrolysis and the related energy storage and conversion technologies are primary focus areas.

The position requires an educational background in Physics or Chemistry and a Ph.D. degree related to solid oxide electrolysis technology or similar systems.

Qualification requirements:
The suitable applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Agreement

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
