Assistant professor or associate professor in Management Accounting 2018-224-01851

At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management a number of positions as assistant professor or associate professor in Management Accounting are open for appointment from 1. December 2018 or soon thereafter.  The position as assistant professor is a 4-year position, while the associate professorships are permanent positions. One of the available assistant professorships is on a part time basis (20%).

Job description

The positions include research and teaching within management accounting and related topics such as financial accounting and information systems.

In terms of teaching, the positions mainly include teaching within the BSc programme in Economics and Business Administration and the MSc programme in Management Accounting and Control offered by the Department. The teaching obligations of the positions include supervision, lecturing, running seminars, as well as coordination, development and planning of courses, and will contribute to further developing problem-based learning and collaboration with industry partners in relation to teaching activities.

The positions will be affiliated to the Department’s research group MAC (Management Accounting and Control) and will contribute to the ongoing research and attraction of external funding within this group.  

A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. 

The Faculty of Social Sciences wishes to ensure that assistant professorships provide career opporunities both within and outside of the university. For that reason, assistant professorships are formed in a manner ensuring that the competencies achieved in the position qualify for a career within research as well as a career in the private and/or public sector. No later than one year before the termination of the position, you are offered an interview in order to clarify your further career.

An appointment as associate professor is a permanent appointment which included an obligation to carry our research and teaching activities. To some extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University.

Qualification requirements - Assistant Professor

Applicants for the post of assistant professor must hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.

Qualification requirements - Associate Professor

It is presuppossed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluatio of their teaching qualifications.

Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experienace with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subssequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will sselect candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Educatio and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confereration of Professional Associations (AC) o Academics in the State.
