Research Assistant

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Civil Engineering a position as Research Assistant in Architectural Engineering is open for appointment from September 1, 2018 or soon hereafter. The position is available for 22 months. The Department of Civil Engineering focuses on the technical and scientific disciplines within civil engineering. Research areas span from Indoor Environment, Wind Turbines, Structural Design, Structural Materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Wave Energy to Traffic along with many other areas. The research is conducted in a national as well as an international research environment. The Department takes on contract research for both public institutions and private companies. The research projects involve both theoretical research and in situ measurements along with laboratory experiments As an employee at the Department of Civil Engineering you become a part of an international research environment, where focus is on innovation, knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Job description

Research Assistant in Architectural Engineering

The position will be related to the research field of Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering at Aalborg University. This research field focuses on improving energy efficiency and obtaining energy savings in buildings through building renovations and by improving building operation. The research assistant will be involved in both national and international research projects and should have experience in both thermal building simulation and experimental techniques.

Teaching will mainly be related to the engineering programmes on Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering, Building Energy Design and Architecture & Design. At bachelor level teaching is in Danish, while it is in English at Master level.

Qualification requirements: Applicants for the position should hold a Masters Degree in Building Energy Design, Indoor Environmental Engineering or have similar qualifications in building physics and building energy modelling. Documented experience with teaching and experimental work is also required.

The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
